CEO & Founder

Emily Reid is a computer scientist, entrepreneur, and education pioneer. She is a sought-after expert in responsible artificial intelligence and innovative high-scale education, and a dynamic leader with a proven record of designing and scaling impactful programs and technology.

As the CEO and Founder of Hypatia Labs, she develops tools and strategic insights for organizations and executives to align emerging technologies with their human values. Emily’s work always seeks to answer the question: “How do we build technology that serves our humanity?”

As CEO of AI4ALL (founded by Dr. Fei-Fei Li and funded by Jensen Huang, Melinda Gates, and Google.org, among others), Emily led a national movement to democratize access to AI. Under her leadership, AI4ALL became a leading voice in AI education, secured historic partnerships, and reached over 8,000 students across 49 states and territories.

Early to computer science education, Emily was the founding Director of Education at Girls Who Code. Called “the ultimate girl who codes” by founder Reshma Saujani, she and her team built an international computer science phenomenon that reached over 30,000 girls and thousands of educators.

Emily began her career as a cybersecurity scientist and engineer at the MITRE Corporation, working in mission-critical national security environments and supporting collaborative standards systems including CVE (Common Vulnerabilities and Exposures). She has published research and policy in top-tier peer-reviewed journals and international outlets in artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, and education.

Emily has spoken at SXSWEdu, Aspen Institute, and for the U.S. Department of State Speakers Program to Morocco, South Africa, and Afghanistan, as well as at universities, high schools, and elementary schools across the country. She has been featured on the Nasdaq billboard in Times Square and has been interviewed by Forbes, Barron’s, and Authority Magazine, among others. She is a Public Voices Fellow of the OpEd Project and Equality Now.
